There are many State Dept of Geology books for Montana. State specific information is extremely helpful as to who,what and where and that's fantastic as MUCH cheaper than other sources and far more precise. Join a local yokel club be it gem & mineral,gold or detector as all have goldnutz and you will fast track them newbie blues right away from working with experienced folks in the field. Save the reading for the cold a winter and learn by doing as faster and much better for mind,soul and body to get it on.....nuttn' like gold n' hand to motivate a man to do great things John
