Prospecting at Lake Don Pedro

Not on the Lake at all. Must go upstream off HiWay 49 to Bagby recreation area(closed last year, this year?) as Lake is SMUD/Bureau of Reclamation controlled and nope, not nothing. Skunk Creek used to have some areas open, also on Hi Way 49. That's right next to where Irwin Lee(RIP) found that monster boulder and acid etched out almost 36 pounds of gold. White quartz rocks in that area of the motherlode-John-

36 lbs, that is a rare and fantastic strike.

The area from west of the Coulterville FD132 @ 49 from the new bridge to the old bridge is an open area. Well worked but you can drop a pan. UPI has claims in that area if you are looking for a club and easy access. UPI has some decent claims there. If you do join UPI drop a PM and I can tell you where I have done well when I use to belong

Just north of Coulterville is Mocassin Creek. They used to dredge the heck out of it, but I'm going back to 1981!

Moccasin still has good gold in it but it is DEEP. The bench still has good gold in it you just have to know where to look8-).
I know the guy who use to have the claim on the other side of 49 from there back about then (1981), I think it's an ARMA claim now, man did he ever score the BIG gold.
