Hey all
* first post on here*
just feeling out the community and looking to pick some brains
I've always been a treasure hunter, hell at one point me and a buddy had a bag of "booty". very literally a bag of gold we kept stashed from various plunders. seriously this happened lol
anyway now im looking to venture into claim exploration! tired of running a service business in the city (grew up in the sticks) and im ready for some exciting exploits in the realm of treasur...er...i mean mining. i got the fever lol plus i want to get involved with something more fungible.
i want to get into surveying claims. i want to do it right. to clarify, im mostly talking about playing in paper. i dont have the skills (currently) to go out and manually do this myself plus im pretty sure core drilling equipment is fairly cost prohibitive. although i would not be against vertical integration at some point. i want to speculate and make claims and bring in the right people to get the right surveys done. which brings about a question: would it be best to get a geotechnical survey or a geophysical? they seem VERY similar to a layman like myself. the purpose of the surveys would be to determine mineral content (obvy looking for anything marketable).
i'd love to jump into running a small mine myself and hounding lodes...but the regulations...plus i have zero experience in the industry so thats proly not gona happen - mining isnt an industry near me and i wont just drag my family across country for an entry level position. please enlighten me if you believe theres other manageable considerations. it really seems like MSHA makes it hard for the little guys to get their foot in. i know the cost of facilitating even a small scale mining operation can be substantial. i am not rich. plus MSHA seems like quite the monkey to have on your back all. the. time. im not against doing things the right way, but that seems like hefty maintenance - legal and otherwise.
so to stay in the realm of accessibility; speculative claim surveying seems like the ticket. i dont want to just tie up claims though, ive already seen how well thats received.
it seems claim surveying isnt super daunting financially with the option to build enough funding/interest to grow into a real mine.
im kinda just tossing this out there. curious to see if anyone has any experience and/or insights they like to share?
