Proper way to go "All Metal" with Minelab SE?

I just purchased a Minelab SE. Several people have suggested that I drop the built in discrimination feature "smart find" and put it in "all metal" mode. I read the manual and watched the video, however I'm not sure if I am setting it up correctly to go "all metal". I can get it to make noise constantly, check the ferris vs conductivity settings, however it is tough to filter out all the sounds the machine makes. Anyone got a set "all metal" program that I can work off of? Information will be greatly appreciated.

I never really use all metal mode unless i am relic hunting or hunting an area that is pretty well cleaned out.
I still dig targets at 10" 0r 12" even in smart find.
Hope someone here can help you out...and maybe me so i will know what to do if i ever use all metal mode!!!

Depending on where you want to hunt you may want to use different setting. The Iron Mask mode allows you to set as little or discrimination as you want or need. Some people hunt with it wide open 32 (blank Smart Screen). I could never stand this myself and for Civil War relic hunting use 31 or 30. This gets rid of the majority of small nuisance iron. Many times the Explorer has trouble properly IDing really deep targets the first time you pass over it. So if you had an IM setting of 16 you may not hear or see the initial hit! Also some good deep targets will "bounce" from the right to left side of the screen because of the depth of the target.

Many hunters will use an IM setting of 20 to 24 for yard or park hunting. Again to mask out the majority of iron but better or hear the initial target hit that would have been in the negative and never seen or heard using the factory preset for coins.

Hope this helps.
