Hello Everyone,

I am stationed in the military on the USS George Washington (CVN 73) (USN). I am new to MDing (8 months). I just joined TN, and promised several of you I would post some pictures of finds in Yokouska Japan. I try and get in time to MD in between normal work hours and going to sea with the Navy. I have seen several counties over here and MD in most. Some of the countries are: Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Philippines, and Australia. Japanese currency is the bomb! Here are their denominations respectfully to ours: 500 yen ($5), 100 yen ($1), 50 yen($.50), 10 yen ($.10), 5 yen ($.05), 1 yen ($.01). Money adds up real fast. Since in Japan I have found almost 1300.00 in US dollars.
Well enough of the drab... Here are some of the finds.
Coins- Total about $31.22, the center coin with the square is dated 1642 from a Japanese friend.
Aquamarine ring- 9.6 grams, 32 stones
Silver mens ring w/S is 46grams is serialized as if it was a retirement ring from a company, haven't been able to find to return to person.

Neat looking ring. Emblem looks familiar for some reason. :icon_scratch:

Nice finds Master Chief! I just got out myself, was a sub nuke, but knew a guy that got off my boat and went to the GW about 3 years ago, MM1(SS) Cox. I don't know if his time is up yet or not. My sister and brother-in-law are stationed over on Okinawa with the AF, I tried to get him into detecting but didn't get too far yet!

Keep up the detecting and thanks for your service!!

looks like you are having some great luck, thanks for serving our great country.HHjs

Really cool hunting, bet you could do a little research and find some crazzy old sites to hunt over there,is detecting very popular over in that part of the world or do you have the place to yourself? Sure like to see some more pics too of the kinda places you hunt as well. Used to be a guy here named 'Dave in Japan' I think that would post some stuff from over there. I bet someone will ID that unsignia on that ring these people seldom miss and ID on about anything,if noone does, post it on the whatsit section surely someone will recognize it,welcome to Tnet and happy hunting...Shoot

Nice finds Shipmate! are you the CMC? I just restired Oct 08 out of San Dog NC1(SW/AW) Lincoln, CVN 72. If you ever run into a AOC Vincent Martin tell him I said hello, keep up the hunts!!

Woo hoo; another MDer in Japan! Good to see ya, I'm on Camp Zama and I MD.

Awesome jewellery :icon_thumright: Can the big ring be S Bahn (Germany) logo encircled in gear?
Just consideration.

Great job, sounds like you are tearing it up over there. I am an AF firefighter at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC. Have fun in your travels. I was stationed on Guam back in the early 80's and did alot of detecting in the jungle. Found some interesting leftovers from the war. Have fun and thanks for your service brother!

Chief, I'm a retiree living/own a business in S. Korea. If you are ever here, let me know. I'm a long way from any sea, but
nowhere in S. Korea is too far from any other place. :laughing7:
I have been hunting here in S. Korea since the late 1970's. Would love to be priviledged to take you up in the hills of S. Korea and possibly put a few square-holed Korean coins in your pocket.
Keep hunting.....keep posting.....and come on over for a visit. hikeinmts.....in S. Korea

Nice finds MACM, I'm sure hoping to hit up some jewelry around here soon. :notworthy:

Nice job and lots of 10 yen coins you found. I'd love to get out in the woods of Japan and find some relics of the samurai days. I lived in Japan for 9 years and have done a lot of traveling. However, I didn't get into detecting until recent years. Look forward for more of your finds from Yakosuka, Japan. I did some time there as well in the early 70's on a few LST's and LPD's back and forth from Korea and other Asian ports. HH Ron
