Hi New member here,

I have been studying, practicing and reading about dowsing and came across this great forum.

I have a book where the writer recommended "programming" your skills with spoken information to train your sub conscious mind for improving predictability in ones results. He has 3 basic programs and then you can vary them for more specific applications. What do you experienced people think about this practice?

Hey luddite…I can’t talk about mental dowsing as I don’t have the experience. I do know that the sub-conscious mind can be trained. Try to stick with one method until you prefect it. Then when you chance a part of it you will know if it helped or not. ….Art

How to best impress the subconscious. Some people write it down. It's like the student who makes a cheat sheet for a test then realizes they don't need it. However you do it, do it with positive emotion. Remove all doubt, fear, anything negative.
Oddly, I have to agree 100% with you on this one, Mike. I've always found that to be the best way for me to learn anything. Rather than studying and reading something over and over again, if I write it down a couple of times, usually only once, I find that it just sticks with me.

Hi Luddite!! This sounds excellent. But, who is the author & what is the title? stvn.

Hey,
Find out what works best for you and stick with it. The sub-concious mind is a powerful thing and can do some amazing things.

My dowsing mentor 25 years ago suggested I suck an empty cartridge to remind me of my non ferrous targets. A day later I was dowsing and realised that I had forgotten to suck my mental crutch. I was dowsing away with no problems. I dont think we give our subconcious enough credit sometimes. Max

Just refreshing this thread. as I see a question that can be answered by me. I believe that the programming in question is Letter to Robin, a learning to dowse 'manual' b the American Association of Dowsers. http://www.lettertorobin.org/Home.html

This is for mental dowsing only. The programmes can be modified if needed to be used for physical dowsing also but that is not my area.

I highly recommend "programming" and developing your yes and no responses from your instruments. It is how they respond to you when you pose questions to them when you are dowsing. Once your "yes" and "no" movements become solid and repeatable, draw the movements onto an index card for reference. There is no way I know of how you can be successful with dowsing if you don't know what the instruments are telling you. You can verbally speak to the instruments, but most people speak silently in their mind the words or concepts they are trying to get across. Having someone who is not skeptical to hide objects for you to locate is something I also recommend.

Hey Jon…These skeptics always make a joke of us using known targets..Known targets are the easiest way to program your mind…After you understand what your rods are telling you using known targets and only then do you move to unknown targets..Understanding unknown targets is again A LEARNING process….Art

I like to keep things simple. Besides an instrument, all someone needs to dowse are hands,
a brain, a heart and a positive attitude, all of which most of us have, the latter of course, depends on you.

i think it was jon that said try coat hangers without cutting them, so i did. i placed a silver dollar on the floor- took a hanger in each hand, pointed the hooks toward each other, walked over the dollar and the hangers opened straight out. i then walked back over the dollar with the hangers pointing straight out, and the hangers came together in the middle. can i explain it? nope. don't need to because it worked and any instrument works slowly for me because of cold hands. another thing i did was using two l rods, i walked up to the chain link fence and the rods open and align with the fence. step back from fence and the rods point straight out again.. i always get a kick out of watching it. have a good week everybody.=== tenclaw===
