Just got this from the new 49'ers. Prayers to all the fire fighters...return home safe. :icon_thumright:

Sorry for the late notice on this, guys; but we were just informed last night that the Grange in Happy Camp (northern California) has turned over use of their facility to fire crews needing a place to sleep.

There are several large fire complexes downstream of Happy Camp, and more upriver. The fires downriver have completely smoked out our Wingate property. Wingate is where we were planning to do this weekend's outing.

Because of the smoke downriver, we were planning a group prospecting project this morning to locate a suitable location upriver. But loss of the Grange Hall to the fire fighters eliminates the (air conditioned) location where we begin the projects and end them with final clean-up and the gold split.

Rita's building across from our office is also booked for something else this weekend.

A heat wave has been blasting us all week and is expected to continue through the weekend. Add the thick smoke to the heat, and it is very uncomfortable outside, perhaps unbearable in some places.

Please pass the word around.

Anyone who wants to reschedule for a later weekend project can put yourselves on a list by calling Montine in our office at 530 493-2012.

Sorry about that. We were planning to move ahead in spite of the fires by moving the project upriver until we found out last night that the Grange Hall is no longer available to us. Yes; we had it booked for the weekend. But fire emergencies must take priority.
