Problem with my detector, what would you do?

I have a Minelabs Xterra-30 and shortley after putting it together I noticed everything is crocked. It looks like all the holes were bored without a jig. The handle that holds the control box is also welded crocked. Maybe it is suppose to be this way?
If they did indeed screw up on such a simple task I hate to see what they overlooked on the complicated stuff.

Personally I like the detector, but I am a newbie so it is hard for me to say what the strong or weak points are. I have noticed that many times a nail will read at 44 then 36 then 32. After digging it up it will read 4 and sometimes -4, a llittle confused on that and also for that reason I do not discriminate, for fear it may not read a coin at a certain depth.

Any thoughts?

Re: Any Minelabs users here?

I'd recheck my assembly of it, then if it's still crooked. I'd say time for it to go back for a replacement. Maybe they might be convinced to give you an upgrade to a 50 for your inconvienance. Worth a shot anyway. You definitly deserve a replacement at least. Good Luck on it.

Re: Any Minelabs users here?

There is only one way it will go together, no other way.

Call Minelab Customer Service Manager, Sandy Burton at 1-702-891-8809 Ext. 21, and explain the problem. The guy that drilled your shaft must have been leaning to one side a bit. That's what you get with low minimum wage I guess.

every manufacturer has some knuckleheads working for them. you know.............the guys that come to work, go through the motions, do the bare minimum, and dont really care if things are put together right or not. its impossible to weed them all out! trust me i know! ::) i would call minelab and give them the oppertunity to make things right. im sure yours isnt the only machine that made it out the door this way. it happens to everyone.

Talk to the dealer and have them make good on it. I got a set of headphones from a vendor and found that one of the toggle switches was bent. I emailed him and said he would take care of the problem. He did. End of story. Hope you will also get this resolved quickly.

does not say much for thier final inspection of the product.
