problem running 2 mxts too close to each other

Is there no Frequency shift on the MXT ?
Gary

No there is not... There is no solution for that problem, it will happen with the mxt, m6 and mx5, they all share the same frequency....

They run on the same frequency. They will interfere esp. if one or both are in motion. This limitation is not peculiar to the MXT, many models of metal detectors of various brands have the same limitation.

The best solution is to keep your distance. The second best solution is to use smaller searchcoils, which broadcast less interference and receive less interference. The third best solution is not to search at slow SAT speeds, they're the worst for this sort of thing. The fourth best solution is to reduce sensitivity (gain and/or threshold).

I designed the MXT. I work for a competitor nowadays, but I'm still proud of the MXT, like many of my designs it's a workhorse more than a decade after its introduction. Now and then I stumble across posts relating to things I've done in the past, and am glad to be able to help where I can.

If my boss finds out, no problem, he knew what I was when he hired me.

I've really enjoyed my mxt that I've had for three and a half years and I jumped at the chance to get 2 detectors (1 my new mxt) for 100 bucks. I have been looking for one of the 4x6 oval coils so that should help. I appreciate all the input this is my first time using the forums.

the m6 has a frequency shift button
had the same problem when hunting with a friend with the same detector

a hundred bucks what a deal

In you dreams maybe... The m6 is just as the mxt, not even the newer mx5 has frequency shift....

LOL! Mr. Loops admiration for everything Whites blinds his view on reality to the point where things are "made up"!

LL, even my lowly ATP has a freq shift!

No freq. shift on M6 or MXT though I have 2 and detect with a friend all the time and you don't need to be very far apart, we usually split up and take different area's as there's no need to detect right next to someone. I usually want a good area to detect and give my friend his own space as well, not everyone detects the same as some grid some don't and even if both grid not everyone is going to start out the same direction. Woof or anybody know how to check the auto ground balance on the Mxt Pro
Thanks
David

I'm about to go out detecting with my uncle who has a DFX and I have an MXT Pro. Will these two detectors cause interference or do they have slightly different frequencies?

No problem there at all... Completely different frequencies...

Thanks for the response norbyx! Ill definately have a better time knowing I don't need to worry about that.
