I found this while creek bed hunting today. I’m the first to agree with the Just a Rock theory when I can’t see proof of manipulation by humans. This looks vaguely possible, maybe an incomplete point. Here’s why: the left picture shows a possible shoulder notch (pen cap indicating), also there is possible very mild flaking along the entire bottom edge in the pic. The right hand picture shows The shoulder notch, but the blade has much less flaking on this side. If you zoom in on the first pic I think you’ll see my point (no pun intended). Regardless it’s a neat stone and I’ll keep it. I just need a conscience on his one. I don’t trust ME when I get these! Thanks 🏹

Looks like a scraper with a spoke shave. The edge work is visible in the pic’s. Imo...
Thanks. It looks flaked. It is consistent in size, but very minute flakes removed.

Possibly, something incomplete, a discard (couldn't get the stone to work in their favor) or something they utilized quickly for whatever reason. Regardless; don't blame you for picking it up.

I think Mike is correct. Had a bit of cortex on the one side.

I no very little about artifacts however Looks pretty symmetrical to me, the notch appears to be carved. I don’t think it’s just a rock.

I think it has potential, but not enough evidence to convict it of being an artifact. I appreciate all the feed back on both sides of the issue. It’s going in my ??? Container. I also need to check it for gold.

Put it in the maybe pile until you get more experience. Then go back later and look through it all. I still have my first finds and most are flakes. If you want some creek tips you can send me a PM and I will give you some as to what I do to find them

I think it's just creek chatter making it look flaked. The patina is different where it is chipped. I think just a broken rock. JMHO
I agree with newnan man, the "flaking" looks much more like random creek chatter than flaking by man.
