PRIZM WITH BIGFOOT COIL - GROUND BALANCING

I really like my prizm V and the multi tone feature is great. I use it every time I am out swinging the detector. My only complaint is that it says it is a penny at two inches when it fact it is a pop can at 5 inches. I just got stop digging if it doesn't get found right away.

The multi tone feature drives me NUTS. I have it on my DFX in one of the disc modes. (I had the Beachhunter ID but got rid of it. It was un-workable.) . As you swing the detector, it gives all those tones, eeeee,, wwwaaaaa, shriekkkkk. It can truly drives you bananas!!!! I like a real low threshold, and a normal beep. I then look at the ID display.
Being a detectorist of 40 years, I can't understand why anyone would want to hear high, medium, low pitchs everytime they swing the coil. Oh well, that's my 2 cent piece worth.

You can switch from multitone to regular with a push of a button in both modes [all metal and discrimination]. I really like the Prizm V. Even if the depth is little off on certain targets. I am very confident I can find any target I am looking for - all I have to do is walk over it and it's found.

The depth scale on any metal detector is calibrated for coin sized objects. Larger objects will read more shallow and smaller objects will read deeper. That's why the pop can read as 2" deep when it was actually 5" deep. You must also realize that unless you have the coil pressed firmly on the ground you need to take into consideration the distance from coil to ground. My guess is that nothing is wrong with the Prizms depth meter.
