Prizm II question

I can't stress enough about researching good spots to hunt. If there are no coins to find that's what you'll find - nothing. Second is how you sweep your coil. Keep the coil flat just above the ground. Overlap your coil by AT LEAST 50%. If you don't have a good coil presentation your fishing without a hook!
What you need to do is discriminate iron only. Then set your sensitivity in reverse. Meaning start out at full bars. Start sweeping your coil. If you get chattering, beeps at the end of each sweep or beeps that will not repeat simply take the sens down a notch. Keep doing this until your machine runs quiet and smooth. Of course dig all coin indications. But if you have time dig your foil and tabs too. You will be surprised what you'll find. ALWAYS dig all targets above iron at the sand volleyball courts and tot lots even the one way and broken tones!

I run the coil on the ground, not above it but on it.... I have always felt that any distance above the ground lessens the depth ...... If you ground balance it on the ground, I dont see a problem.... and trying to keep it above the ground surface will wear out your swinging arm very fast......... I have hunted for 17 years now, and thats how I have always done it....... I know others will dis-agree with me, but I would want every inch I could get ... esp with lower end machines..... Prizms are good machines, but just do not have the depth of higher end models

Minton7,
I have never heard of rubbing the coil on the ground throughout a sweep. To be this would be friction and be harder to sweep? I would think the occasional rock or clod would bump your coil. This alone can produce a beep. Plus it would make your coil jump up quickly that also can produce a beep. I think sweeping your coil just above the ground will give a smoother sweep thus giving a smoother result? But then again I have never dragged my coil on the ground during a full sweep. But if it's working for you the go for it.

I run it right on the ground its self.... yes the rock or dirt clod will bump it.. I just avoid them....... someplace this method may not work, but for parks yards etc it will work just fine....... the further above the ground you are, the more depth you lose...... I need every millimeter I can get... so I get as close to the targets as I can
