Privy digging help

I was hunting at an old farm house and located what I believe is the area where the outhouse was located. Actually it was a no-brainer. There was an old walk way to an area that had an approximate 4x4 foot area that had settled about 6 inches below the level of the surrounding area. What is my next move? I have seen others use a long thin steel pole to "explore" if this is indeed an area to be searched. I guess I could always just start digging. Your input please. Thanks

Yep, you found the privy. You can start digging if you want. Then use your MD to scan each pile of dirt you bring up.
