Greetings,

I got permission to hunt a friends beach and the surrounding area. It's not a whole lot of land, but plenty to keep me busy for a few outings.

I started off by cleaning as much glass and visible trash off his beach. I ended filling up a couple of grocery bags by the end of it with all of the bullets, pull tabs, bottle caps and misc. rusty junk.

I found plenty of old broken plateware around.

I wandered into the woods behind me and I found this old little knife by a tree. The only letter I could make out engraved on it was a "t".

About two feet away, I found this little guy. I have absolutely no idea what it is.

Back to the beach I went, where I found this old Axehead.

Nearby I found this too, which I believe could also be some sort of axehead.

With all of these lil goodies around, you'd think I would've found a coin or two. Maybe next time I'll come across something. :)

Still neat finds.. I like em..

Love those old axeheads though, I bet they'll clean up nicely too. :icon_thumright: With all of those axes lying around I bet there was a lumber camp or maybe fur trading post near by . . . you never know eh!

Looking good on the axe :icon_thumright:

Thanks guys... I'm still baffled there wasn't any coins around. Not even any modern clad! lol

My cousin wants the axehead for his survivalist bag. lol

All yours kid. :)

Maybe have a few drinks, it might improve your stumble. ;D

Nice finds! I really like the axe heads. The object in the 3rd and 4th pictures looks to be the handle part of an old metal fish scaler. I've found a couple before when hunting the water. HH -Garbageman

keep it up...your not even scratching the surface there....it will come in due time... best of luck

The unknown item looks like the handle used to lift the lid or top plate on an old wood or coal stove. Congrats on your finds!

Right on guys.

Thanks for the ID's. :) I had no clue.

When I first saw the knife, it was so rusty, it looked like the tip end of a harpoon (I think I was drunk IP lol).

Thanks for the kind words.

The older gentleman on the adjacent property came down to see what I was doing and I secured permission for his land too. He seems to think that it's only been "summer camps" in the area for the last 100 years.

I beg to differ! :read2:

Love the axe heads... Looking forward to seeing some more of your finds.

that 2nd ax head is an oldie ,it will clean up nice

Brought the dogs to the beach where I found the axes... and had a quick little hunt.

I went to the rock where I had left the axes for my buddy to see, and someone politely put a handle on one of them lol.. he says it wasn't him.

Not very ergonomic though. ::)

I did some research and found an old (no longer existing, under concrete) saw mill about two coves down.

hahaa, yes we are polite... most of the time.

Thx for the ID Ivan, another member mentioned it was an oldie too.

Im trying to picture how they used to rig them up to cut wood.... was it tied with rope or did it slide into a slot in the handle?
