made from copper or brass, a view of a building,2 blvds with horse drawn carrages. on the botton,written backwards is Balloon View Of Dominion Hotel. Was this used for printing?

Yup .. definitely a printing plate. It was probably mounted to a wooden block originally.

I reversed the image and enhanced it just a bit ... It's beautiful!

VERY NEAT FIND .. Now go research the Hotel!

Thanks for the ID confirming its a printing plate. I believe its the Dominion Hotel in Victoria B.C., now called the Dalton,built in 1890.there has been a hotel on that same site since1863, they housed goldminers heading to the goldrush in the interior of B.C. I've stay in that hotel the last 2 times I was in Victoria.
