I found this while metal detecting in a woods in the Copper Country in the U.P. (Michigan). It is made out of copper. I'm thinking it could be prehistoric indian, some sort of hand tool or something. Maybe not? Anyone know for sure? It's just too unique to be a piece of float copper! I have found copper points and other stuff from prehistoric indians up there also. Thanks

TreasureTales, Thanks for your information. I went to the site that you suggested and was reading about the cast copper lump. In my first picture, the top is rounded. The second picture is the bottom and it is flat. The third picture is the side view and you can see that it is in layers (also some layers can be seen in the first picture). I have never seen layers in float copper and that's why I don't think it's float copper. Still need more research on it. Thanks again for the help.

I don't think it's a tool, ornament or man-made object. Why use precious copper for something rock shaped? I think it's a nice chunk of natural nodule of natural copper.
