The flood of counterfeit coins entering the market has prompted new concerns about determining the authenticity.
Up until this time the best electronic machine to check the type of metal in a coin cost thousands of dollars.
A new product is on the market that costs substantially less. CoinWeek talks to the inventor of this new device who shows how it works.

Best tools are your own eyes and ears (and a good digital scale). They found a way allegedly to get past the fisch devices, so I wouldn't necessarily put my faith into any machine. The good thing is at least for now they still cannot get the art work with fine details down exactly. Once PMs go high enough you will see counterfeits that do look great. Hopefully I won't be buying PMs at that point and won't have to worry.

I think we will see silver really start to get counterfeited once we break 50. For fun you can go to alibaba and search for silver coins, bars, etc, and see what the latest new counterfeits are that our Chinese friends are pumping out.

Just my opinion.
