I found this in a precambrian section of the United States. I am fairly certain this is marble, but somebody can certainly correct me on that. The rocks popular in this area are gneiss, granite, anorthrocite, metadiabase, metabasalt, metarhyolite, and marble. I did have coconut oil on my hands when I touched it, otherwise you would not be able to see the striations in it, leading me to believe it's marble. I know how rare it is to find fossils from the precambrian age, but it would have been a sea creature, as my state (pennsylvania) was covered by the sea in the precambrian times. I am not willing to break the rock open. Any ideas if it is or not?
