I tried practicing in my yard and found out my house had white aluminum siding at some point in the past. Small scraps of aluminum everywhere. Very frustrating. Gary

That's a good way to get started and learn your detector. I'd get some sort of generic chain like for a ceiling fan pull, and start to put the keys on it. You are going to find a lot of them over the years.

way to go! learning that machine will pay off bigtime. btw, I can't bring myself to throw away keys. got 2 mason jars full of them now..........still looking for my first skeleton key.

Bury a few different coins in the yard so you learn the good tones as well.

That's a good feeling isn't it, when you're able to start guessing what it is before you dig it?

Dig and they will come. Being one with your machine is a must to fully appreciate this great hobby. Try too sir watching a few YouTube vids on your machine and its operations. Be safe!
