I have never had one, & therefore never researched these. I really like the design.

This is a total guess & someone will do better, but it looks late Georgian??

Yes you may be right, hopefully someone from across the pond may have some more info. Wonder if one of this type made it's way across there it looks mass produced.

The design appears to be very similar, if not identical, to this one in zinc sheet, dating c. 1850's.

Good job, a little later than I expect.

Sorry about that.

I'd just brewed up some uncommonly fine Nahorhabi Estate Assam, and it would have been sheer madness (not that I'm above that sort of thing now and then) to let it go cold while I was chasing down ID's.

Cheers!

Robert, seeing your flask made me think of something I found many years ago that I was told was a flattened one half of a powder flask and I never really researched it any further since then.
Now, mine measures close to your, remembering mine is fairly flattened but it is 14.5cm x 9cm.
What has struck me as odd, I looked at many photos of powder flasks and yours was the same as the photos I looked at but my design is upside down??
Anybody have thoughts on mine?
Is it half of a flask and if so, unusual for design being upside down?

Don

Thinking outside of the box, maybe its not a powder flask?? Looks very similar but......

Hi Don, Don't think the design is upside down it shows shot game. My flask is in 2 parts I put them together for the picture. Go back and find the other half.

I never thought of the game hanging upside down since there appears to be a deer type animal in a running position, otherwise I would have perhaps made that assessment.

No way will I ever be able to find the other half, I found this so long ago I have no idea where, my bad for horrible relic keeping records back in the 80's and early 90's.

I just stirred some very common orange kool-aid while screwing up a button ID that Don will soon correct I hope, while he was worrying about upsidedown flasks...

As I think of it... they are only upside down while not being used...

Thanks for the hanging game flask link :)
