Got out to a cellar i have been to before but only got 1 flat button last time..After reading in a book on the area i learned it was a
Rev War Veterans house..He was one of the "Boston Men" and was awarded this land for his service. He was described as a small thin man who possessed great strength and was know for walking rafters on a house on his hands..Was a good size cellar for sure.
I hit it low and slow going in briar a rough areas..
I included a pic of old black and white aerial views to show you how much the stone walls stick out..It's how i find lots of Colonial sites:icon_thumright:

Got 2 smoked coppers

A decent 1802 Draped Bust

Colonial chape

And other relics..Anyone know what kind of tool that is i found..It has small circular fitting in it that slide:icon_scratch:
Felt good to dig some Colonial but im back at it..

JB,

Neat finds! The piece you asked about...as first glance appears to be some sort of vintage engineering drafting tool. Maybe a protractor or tool divider.

Also, possibly an early mechanical crochet hook piece.

Just guesses but cool finds!

Nice bunch of finds! Really like that buckle piece! Congrats and Merry Christmas

That was my first thought also maybe surveying tool or map making just a guess great finds anyway

NOT SURE WHAT THE MYSTERY PEICE COULD BE BUT THE REST IS FINE .

Thanks it's weird for sure it has all little metal round hollow cylinders in it that slide down:icon_scratch:

Almost like small percussion caps

Well, JB, sometimes just sounding out what you are looking at gets you there. In this case, I think after reading your response, it helped me flesh out my search a bit.

Blaze, I wish I could dig what you dug from a blasted site. Very nice job digging deep and making them small signals count. Congrats buddy

Percussion cap capper, she is like a pretty ghost, nice draped, nice finds

Love the old copper and buckle! :occasion14:

The condition of the cellar hole itself is amazing, still straight sided. Imagine the first dudes there had good pickins.
Are all the black lines on the aerial stone walls ?
Decent '02.
Cool relic, never seen one of those before.
