Pottery Question

[Road Dog]

Here is a blob of pottery (brown blob just off center). It is about the size of a grenade and has the crushed quartz like the pottery in Central NC has during this time period. Anyone know what it could be. I find smaller ones too from the size of a grape to this size.

Not sure Road Dog. I have not found any blobs with my pottery. They tempered it around here with crushed shell. Pretty interesting.Is it burned? Maybe thrown into a fire pit ??
