Found this near my place on the river bank. Its super strong. Vertually un-breakable. It has a diff pattern on each side, about 1/8 inch thick, and loaded with grassy type fibers. Any ideas as to its age and type. Ive never seen anything like it before.

If it's pottery.. Which I'm pretty sure it's not.. You should be able to Scrape and edge of it With your fingernail And some will come off Like a powder. It looks like a piece of fiberglass to Me. Pottery is sand and clay Mixed together And dried.. very simply put. It's definitely not unbreakable.

It scrapes off with a tooll but not my fingernail and it is powdery cream colored inside and loaded with the fibers. Under a 10× scope the fibers appear to be from the head of a cat tail. Not like fiberglass but more organic.

It's not Native American pottery. I say it's a piece of fiberglass. I can post some photos of pottery if you like. I have hundreds. Just to show texture I will post a couple.

I'm thinking you have a piece of stone that has lots of iron and smokey quartz in it. Is it rather heavy, dense, but thin and fragile looking? Here is a piece that I believe is the same as yours. I often find it among iron pyrite. I once thought it was super tough pottery as well. This stuff can't be broken.

Hope this helps.

I don't know what you're looking at. It doesn't look anything like that. You can see right in his. I can see the fibers in it. Looks like chopped up cloth In resin. Looks like someone patched A small hole in their boat and it popped off and wound up on the bank.

You are exactly right. I can see the " grip marks" now. I can say no more! Lol!

yeah looks like fiberglass to me too

If he finds enough of that, he can build a corvette! That is fiberglass/epoxy no doubt. I thought you could break that stuff. Oh well. The synthetic version of the iron/smokey quartz rock!

you guys should start a rap group like these guys
