Since I am new, and don't know a whole lot, I was wondering if anyone has ever thought about, or actually used chalkboard spraypaint to coat their bluebowl? The reason I ask, is because I am thinking it may hold the super fines down better in the bowl, and possibly allow the bowl to be used a bit quicker? Thanks, Jay

With the swirling black sands, the paint won't last long. Think radial sanding.

The main idea of the Bowl is the water flow. The fines will find their way down to the bottom. A rough texture will just hinder the process. The Bowl's simplicity was NOT an accident. TTC

And don’t feed it to fast….Art

@ Underburden.....I see what you mean about the paint wearing. @TerryC....I get it. In the blue bowl's case, "less is more". @Art....Thanks Art, I definately won't feed it too fast. I've seen a few youtube videos of people feeding it so fast with the water flow cranked, and it looked like the superfines were sucked right out. I'm trying to keep that stuff.

Classify then run accordingly. Specific gravity is how the thing works. If you are running nothing but "super fines" and you set your flow and feed so the gold stays put, your in. Run "super fines" with larger material and you'll lose some.

Build yourself a Miller Table and not look back. I have a Blue Bowl and the Miller Table I built runs circles around the Blue Bowl.

AZ Viper, what kinda rubber matting is that on your miller table? I just built me a good working blue bowl for under 15.00. I'll post some pics when I take some. I do have a slate table, and I'm almost done fixing the spray bar. Nice setup!

Check my signature on building the rubber mat Miller Table. Sorry for the delayed response but this site was not emailing us due to issues when someone replies to a thread.

Hey Az Viper, just wanted to let you know that I tried your idea. I bought the cheap shelf liner you had in your post, and damn that stuff works! My sluice/table is 32 inchesL x 8 inches wide, and the tiny indents in the liner are completely covered in a reddish powder. When I looked at the stuff under the loupe, there is also quite a bit of tiny microscopic gold nuggets! Thanks for the great information man
