Pot Lid?

Hi, I recently found this object in a part of a field that had never until recently been cultivated. I had always found flint indian arrowheads nearby. This past Spring the clump of trees were removed and the slight rise in the area was plowed and planted. This was in central Ohio.

I have seen similar objects on the internet that were pot lids.

The last object was found in the same area. It appears to be made of brass or copper. I didn't put anything in the picture for size comparison, but it is about 2" high.

Thanks!

SS, it could be the base to a cast iron lamp or the base to a candelabra, 'if' the center hole is larger. Is it larger than shown and is closed with rust?

Did you find the oak leaf in the same area as the iron thingie? Is the leaf made from iron?

Interesting, Breezie

The iron piece reminds me of the base plate from inside the seed hopper of an old corn planter. Perhaps I can get a photo of one tomorrow.

I don't think that the hole was much if any larger. My first thought when I picked it up was that it is something off a tractor...

Yes, I found is a few feet from the other object. I'm not sure what it is made of...it seems like brass or copper. It is shiny on some of the high spots, and has green places on it.

Reminds me of pre-spin off oil filter cover, or oil bath air cleaner cover from a tractor. Leaf... yup looks like a lamp part.
