Just about everything in this tray came from one site. The Clovis on the top left on the first pic is from Ada, Ohio and the 3 pieces in the top right of the 2nd pic are two casts and a repro. The white and brown ones are casts of Paleos found by Tom Westfall in Colorado and the grey one is a repro. All of the Tools and the other points are from the same site or from sites in close proximity to that one. I also included some close ups of some of the Points in the tray and the last few pictures are of the best Clovis I ever found.

I have not been able to have much time on known Paleo sites in my state. And have yet to find a fluted Paleo point. I did go on a hunt a few years back on a known Paleo site and came back with these. Also..Reaper.. I love how putting so many of the tools together shows the flaking style so well.

Thats strange. All fluted points I've found have been on river banks alongside of all period points. The banks don't really cave in, but in heavy rain erosion washes the bank down pretty good.(if that makes sense, don't know how to say it) the erosion happens fast enough to not erode the point to crap. If I had to guess, I would have thought FL. Would have fluted points out the yin-yang, being that water is every where . Then again, I guess salt water would only be good for fishing. Huh, Gator, you always make me think!

What artifacts. Grim - those spear points you have are museum quality, man. Seriously. That is top quality stuff!!!! And NC - that black piece you have has one the most gorgeous work!!! Wow!!

Oh, yeah, one more thing. When y'all say paleo site or archaic site or what ever site, wouldn't it depend on what layer of topsoil is exposed? How do you know ?

In certain sections of my state there is alot. But Florida being a peninsula has gone through some huge changes in the past due to water level of the ocean. The Ice caps were alot larger during those times which made the ocean level lower.the state of Florida used to be twice as large arid and dry except for the coast line which in some cases was 100 miles further out then it is now. So most of those sites are under alot of water. In the interior of the state and portions of the gulf side there were springs and grasslands. Those sites are still accessable. It wasn't until archaic times the ocean level came to pretty much where it is now.

100_1668.jpgClosest100_1668.jpghing I have come to a point. You will need a small army of slaves to carry this down the mountain.

Thanks for the knowledge. That puts things in prospective .

Florida does produce alot of paleos, but you have to remember that in the paleo days our shore line was 50 miles out from where it is today. I have some friends that dive paleo sites out in the ocean. So whatever points or artifacts we do find here were where some natural water source was, most of our rivers werent even here during that time. We dive certainrivers that wrere more like small valleys back ini those days and then when the ice melt gimmick came along it made our rivers. ! section that was dove pretty hard back inthe 90`s produced hundreds of paleo points, and believe it or not these guys dont do computers/forums or even have tv`s, some of the best Florida collections are unseen

Really can't blame them for keeping the collections private.

I have no personal finds as to Paleo. I did buy some scrapers from Tx that were found on a Paleo site. I put them in the scraper page earlier this week.
