Post Katrina and Rita finds

I am just figuring out the new camera. These were found after Katrina/Rita. About 6 feet of sand was washed away in certain areas after the storm.

The buttons are solid black (from oxidation). I don't know what style they are. I did find a picture of a Union uniform with the same buttons. I also found a few other items that I can't identify. I will post those and see if anyone has an idea.

Both of your buttons are Union buttons. The one with the letter "I" is an Infantry coat button, and the other is a general issue union coat button. I'm not an expert on the civil war relics, but have a couple buttons like those myself.

They appear to be in really good shape and the value also depends on if the back and attachment are intact. 8)
 

Thanks for the site. The shanks on the back are still intact. It makes sense that they are Union as I found them where my best guess was of where the Union troops made camp before attacking the Fort.
