Spent the morning at a funeral downtown for a relative who was in the Navy in WW2, 94 yrs old. He was born in 1926, his parents were born in the 1800’s. The military flag ceremony was emotional, my first.

Did not plan on detecting today, but the rain finally stopped and my family was wiped out from the morning and just kicking back. So hit a spot deep in the woods that produced well last year, but had slowed way down. Thought at least I would have a nice hike to decompress from the morning.

Started slow, but first good targets a couple thimbles, great sign.

Then found this fob.

Blank on the back, anyone recognize it??

Got a few small buttons.

Then a nice deep 15 signal on the Nox, this signal is usually a shotgun shell head stamp, but deep is always enticing.

Turned out to be a large 2 piece sportsmen’s button. Not sure how old this is, but it is my favorite find of the hunt.

Hit an area that was overgrown last time I was there, but now swingable and found a wheat and this. (First silver of the year, slow start...)

Trifecta of spoons, Tombac, Pewter and Plated.

Charge token.

Nice watch winder.

Mystery item, heavy brass.

And at the end of the day I decided to super slowly swing the hotspot that we had pounded last year, only a 10’x20’ area. No good signals left but removed a big iron pipe and eventually got a couple one way squeakers.

Now that is a great hunt, my friend. A lot of nice recoveries. I don't know what that fob would be for. Keep up the good work.

Amazing finds! So much to like about this outing. Neat button, old silver, large cents. You crushed it!

Nice finds! IDK if its true or not, but a very long time ago, I was told that ever winter the ground heaves and thaws. That in turns moves things around. I have gone back to places that I have covered and found new stuff. So no area may never be hunted out if that is true.

That Hunts Button is circa 1850-60s!

Very nice! Congrats!

The watch-winder is awesome ! Great hunt and congrats

Sorry for your loss , WW2 soldiers were all true hero’s , getting out finding relics is always a good way to clear your head glad you found some nice stuff.

Thx man! From the area of the site, I’m thinking the fob is from the early 1900’s. Hopefully someone recognizes the “I” symbol.

Thx! Thought I was never going to find another silver coin, bit of a drought.

I think that plays into it. I also think that moisture level and how compacted the soil effects the signals in my detector.

Best hunt of 2020? It's ONLY Jan.!! I'd pay good money to have a hunt like that. Amazing. Gary

Thx!

Thx for the info. Popped the button near the large cents, so that makes sense.

Awesome digs. I hope the rest of the year is just as fruitful..

Nice hunt Thad. Love the sporting button, fob, watch winder, and LCs. And congrats on the Barber too!

That is a really good hunt! To find all that in one day!? Very nice. I'm still looking for a watch winder! Sorry about the relative funerals are always tough for me if I don't know the person well. That fob is pretty cool. No idea about it but it looks nice.
