So I have never found a musket ball before, But I have watched quite a few detecting videos and saw people find them. The first thing I thought when I picked it up was it has to be a musket ball, just because of how heavy it was compared to it's size. The only thing that makes me doubt it is the weird protrusion it has on it.I found it in an area that was inhabited by native americans over 300 years ago. These native americans and their village at this site were killed and their grain storage and long housed burned down in 1687 by French-Canadian forces. Any info on this at all would be nice. 20141010_232434.jpg20141010_232438.jpg20141010_232451.jpg20141010_232456.jpg20141010_232513.jpg20141010_232546.jpg20141010_232606.jpg20141010_232619.jpg20141010_232625.jpg

Pretty crude mold cast ball.If fired from a musket being slightly deformed wouldnt matter. It could be a musket ball that still had its sprue.Looks about the right size, mic it if you have a mic.Or it could be a fishing weight:laughing9:

Yeah I don't have a scale or a mic, but I did think it could be a sinker.. although there is no water around where I found it. However, it doesn't have a hole through the protrusion. I guess someone could have tied a string around it. It seems a little too heavy, even for a fishing sinker.
