Metal Detecting
I dug this up on my property today while metal detecting. It was about 6” down. I have found many items from 1700’s and 1800’s. However, there are so many layers of history here. I don’t have any idea if this item is old or from 1990 😊
It was not tarnished and i so not see any stamping of what type of metal it is. Looks like a hook or shank maybe was on the back and is broken off.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated- thank you

Looks to be silver in the picture, not sure what it attached to, though.

I could see it being a shirt adornment, like on a collar for a western shirt. (ladies shirt)

I’m pretty sure this wasn’t for clothing. The back has a connector that you would see on boxes or saddles. I think it is a decorative shield for a jewelry box or similar.

Never would have even thought of that possibility. I will google and see if i can find something similar. Thank you

Its not a decorative piece for anything... it would have 2 attachment points to avoid turning / swivel.

Possible tie tack type or clothing related and would have had a spike next to pin post.

Looks Fur Trade somewhat.... definitely NA in any case IMO.

Depends on the object it is attached to, I.e. a depression or raised area.
