Hello I was wondering if someone can please tell me what I have. There is no inscription on the back but on the front It’s stamped UCP & C
Then in the middle is 1000 and at the bottom it has Co. I don’t think it’s a railroad tag but a tag of some sort. It appears to be brass.

Thanks for looking forward 8D41BFFF-0071-4F2B-B17E-6ACFBA25F020.jpeg

Found it at an old home in Los Angeles built in 1905 the back is kind of scooped in and in the middle of the back it looks like it attached to something. Its about 2 inches wide and 1-1/2" tall. It appears to be brass.

At first I was thinking this might be a storage locker tag, but without visible attachment points... probably not. :icon_scratch:
Unfortunately, I found very few references to U.C.P. & Co. online. :dontknow:

Seeing as you found it in Southern California, I'm thinking that U.C.P. might have been a company based in your area.
The tag looks to date to the 1st quarter of the 20thc.

The last two letters are P & L which my guess is a power and light company. Could be off a power pole.

Universal Cable Productions&Co. Might have been off some movie equipment, camera or lighting.Something in the entertainment industry and being found in L.A. it makes sense.

The token may have something to do with consolidated efforts of the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific railroads to eventually join up in Provo, Utah.

Thanks Don that’s what I originally thought who knows.
