I may have posted this years ago, but have another question. This looks like a triangle but not a Madison. I can tell if the base was reworked.
Anyways, just curious if you had any ideas if it may be woodland or another type,
From Illinois.
Thanks

Nice point! I'm not familiar with what's in your area, but I will say that some triangle points are just triangle points and can't be ID'd beyond that (not to say there isn't some known variety over your way.) Some points just can't be classified. Interestingly, I have two triangle points that share the same distinct form (found about 5 miles apart) but I can't determine a type either. I guess if there's two or more, maybe they should have a name?

I just call the big ones Woodland Triangles and leave it at that cause unless they are tiny Im not sure. Its hard to beat finding a nice triangle though.

Hard to say without it being in hand, but my guess is a broken Archaic or Woodland point reworked across the break for another use. I have one very similar where it was reworked from one face only, resulting in a bevel across the base, for maybe a combination awl/scraper tool. I like the material in yours with the translucent veins running through it.
