The token is fro The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union.
Probably very common.
The symbols on the back are a series of 12 basic math for figuring loads etc.

Actually, many of these were overstamped "And there was light". Really. A Biblical reference from Genesis. There is enough math there to create light from water. On a Cloudy day. Could it be electrical engineers thought they were in the labor of God? Wonder what they charged Him?. It was His idea first.

HMMMMM it may be old as Z was replaced by R.
Here's something. http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/imped.htm

Resistance R (the part which is constant regardless of frequency)
Reactance X (the part which varies with frequency due to capacitance and inductance)

Heres one but you need to get a subscription for the sale price. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ibew-neca-token-electrical-workers
The value will be minimal. It worth whatever anyone on eBay is willing to pay for it. My guess under $5.

The metal is most likely not silver. Any pawn shop can test.
Its probably a worthless melted piece of aluminum. If its heavy, it may be lead. Save your lead until you get a bucket full.

Welcome to TN.

The most common by far is melted aluminum. You would be surprised how heavy a solid aluminum piece can be and it will look shiny when scraped.

If its not silver, its not worth saving. The next possibility is a melted blob of solder. You will find all kinds of melted metals. Chance that its a metal of any value is slim.

Beer Cans + Bonfire = Melted Blobs.

Throw it in the scrap metal bucket.

thank you for all your help.
your welcome.

Now if you were anywhere the space shuttle crashed, it could be a melted piece of that but otherwise I doubt its anything worth saving. I dont see anything in the pics posted.

In our local, everyone who went through the njatc training program for 6 years received one. It's commonly used to show that you didn't get into the local through 'the back door ". I lost mine and would love to find it.

I just want to add a note on the fire nugget. The OP says its heavier than a silver coin. Sure its a lot thicker too. You may be surprised how heavy a melted blob of aluminum will feel. And its shiny when scraped.
