Possible Scabbard Tip

Ive talked to one guy that said this was definitely a brass scabbard tip to a bayonet .....any help

The penny shows the brass object is too small to be a bayonet scabbard tip. It reminds me of the cover for the writing end of a fountain-pen, like I used in school in the late-1950s/early-1960s... but at my age, I might not be remembering those things right.

In my previous reply, I forgot to mention that the slight damage at the tip looks like where a pen's "pocket-clip" was attached and is now broken off.

Cannonballguy is exactly right. Brass end to a fountain pen.
