Hey guys, I’m looking for help identifying this pewter coat button. I’m thinking it’s revolutionary war period but hoping to get an exact ID. Thanks! IMG_0420.webp

64th Regiment of foot

Very nice, I'd be thinking about putting a sealer on the button. Congrats

Pepperj nailed it. British enlisted man's button, a new variety to boot! That big blob of pewter on the back with the iron shank coming out of it is called a "boss" and is a sure sign of British use. I'd give it a bath in a 50/50 mix of Elmer's glue and water, or it will crumble on you - quickly once it dries out completely. Great find.

Thanks again Smokey, that’s exactly what I did!
