I found this on an old plantation here I have found multiple civil war buttons and treasure.this particular location is different to where I usually dig on the site. I have found a lot of early 1900s era stuff but this button which has an anchor and two circle borders which are to be rope. There is no rope intertwined in the anchor like most military buttons. In the middle of the anchor there is a line that runs down to a square turned on its corner. the back of the button looks to me like it's made of pewter if that helps. I found the British molded there buttons of pewter I've looked at thousands and can't pinpoint what exactly it is. If someone can please answer it would help my dilemma. image.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webp

It can't be any more modern than 100 years cause the patina on the he brass is real thick

Sorry if the correct ID information given to you by Fyrffytr1 is disappointing, but... your button is definitely a Modern-Era (20th Century) civilian-usage button, manufactured for use on "Nautical Motif" civilian clothing, such as a yachting jacket. It is a type which button-makers call a "Fashion" button, because that type is made for use on "Fashionable" civilian clothing. The fact that the Waterbury Button Company is still manufacturing and selling it today, in the Fashion Buttons section of the company's website, says a lot about what it actually is.

I see you are brand-new here, so... welcome to TreasureNet's "What-Is-It?" forum, the best place on the internet for getting unidentified objects CORRECTLY identified. I hope you'll stick around, because there is a vast amount of valuable information available -- for free -- in this forum.

I really appriciate all the info that's what me and my dad have form to is that is it nautical civilian so I appriciate the second apinions. It helps me finalize my decision on what it is. I'm thinking it's 1920. Everything I found in that general area has dated exactly in that time frame. I do know there's civ to be found there I just got to find the exact location after years of erosion. I'm excited to be a member and share my history of finds as well learn a lot.
