I found this on my family's land near a creek thats close to the river and took it to the Science center and they told me it was most likely a meteorite but would have to send it off to slice and verify to know for sure. It is pretty heavy/dense 3-4 ozs, 4 inches long, 1.5 inches thick, and reacts to magnets well. I don't think it's magnatite or hematite. I've looked through a ton of pictures on the web of both and can't find one that looks the same. I was gonna see if anyone could help me identify it. I would love for it to be a meteorite and worth a little cash since I've never found one before. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Very "Cool Rock." :occasion14:

1. Test for Nickel with a nickel testing kit. Read up on this though because some will give false readings so to be sure do the test 2 or 3 times. 2. You can also do a streak test on a ceramic tile for example. 3. Try to polish a "window" so you can see inside without slicing it. In the end you can also slice it too. Good luck! :)
