Hard to tell from the picture, but because it is so ornate, is it possible that it is silver? You could try polishing a spot, or have it tested.

Interesting idea. Had not bothered as the inside of the item is slightly corroded. Its possible its plated... But dont see any plating breaks on it anywhere. I also have not found a cast split seam either inside or outside nor any hallmarks or names etc. am at a total loss as to what it is.

Was thinking an ear horn or a teapot spout, but the teapot wouldve been super heavy as this item is quite heavy itself!

Ah yes a teapot. Looked it up and the images show the same cleft smaller diameter end. Wish I could date it or find out what area that kind of design was from. Any ideas on where to hunt for that information? Did not see much online for how to do that without a hallmark, which is usually on the actual pot itself!

Thank you for your input.
