Hello!

I dug this up with my f75 yesterday about 6-7" down.
I think I can see something on the one side but nothing conclusive.

It seems pretty light to be gold and it rings in at the zinc range. Could it be brass? This was found at a local park that definitely holds enough history for a gold coin.

Is there any way to figure out what it is? It is SMALL...Half dime/trime size.

Thanks!

I don't think you find is gold because gold comes out of the ground the same way it went it . . .meaning it doesn't tarnish or fade.

To determine if it is brass or not, rub it between your thumb and forefinger, then smell of your fingers. Brass has a very distinct odor. If you want to know how brass smells, use an old brass house key.

I did try that after a Google search but I can't tell. The object is so small it's hard to do that test. Lol

I was wondering that too since it was even more cruddy before a cleaning. The weight of it is the thing that stands out the most to me. I figure a gold coin would be heavier.

Oh well.....maybe next time! Haha.

Thanks WS. Sure got the heart pumping...

Is the image out of focus or actually that obscure?
An interesting challenge, nevertheless.
Don..........

My galaxy takes awful pictures! This is my proof. Lol

I like the way think brother!

If it was a gold coin, it would be shiny bright yellow (high carat gold) and soft enough to dent, hence people biting them in the old western movies.

Best of luck to you sir!
