possible eagle hatplate part ?

found this last weekend at an old cellar site and was wondering if anyone could identify and tell if it was part of a hatplate and what time era . i'm pretty sure its an eagle wing of stamped brass and silver tinned , i know its probably a tall order but i figured there's got to be a couple of experts out there really into this type of stuff. thanks

leddel, there are more than a couple of experts out here, unfortunately I'm not one of them, but I do know you can help more by providing an idea of size and at least one more pic showing the reverse side.

Also, there's something about the fine detail in the individual feathers which to me says, not Military - but that's just a WAG

I'm thinking it's a flag topper, since it is so 3-D...but I need to know how big the item is.

It is a partial radiator cap/ornament from an old car. Possibly an old Buick.

Sorry about that. I've looked at a lot of posts in the past day trying to catch up on what I missed...


I don't think it's a hood ornament if it is stamped brass. Not even sure that a flag staff topper would've been stamped.
