✅ SOLVED Possible CW Item

While in Charleston, SC last week, I dug this small brass item. It was found in an area where some CSA soldiers had camped. I am afraid that it is a "tractor part" or some other piece of junk, but here goes...

It has file marks all over it, like it has hand worked, that's what makes me think it might be something good.

I'm thinking part of a lock for a trunk but that's just a guess.

Thanks guys. Someone else said that it looked like a lock part. All the file marks made me think "old"...

I spent a good hour looking at this. It seems fairly crude - not a precision part. The center spindle and "bump" possibly had a spring. Roller blinds hardware? Sceen door hardware? Mostise lock part?

I've seen my share of relics and been a CW reenactor for years. I've not seen or used anything that had a part like that on it. So... Not CW, IMO. But I don't know what it is...

It is interesting to me that the relic is laying on a makisu (bamboo sushi roller). I used one of those last night to make dinner.
