Got out to the area where I got the Tongue Buckle Half and got a complete possible Civil War Spur. I also got a large Rossette with Flower pattern and what I think is a reins guide. Please let me know your thoughts.

I believe your spur is a U.S. Cavalry one from the civil war period.

I am told the item I thought was a Rossette is probably not...usually lead filled? Any thoughts?

What does the back of the "rosette" look like? It may be part of a drawer pull or door knob. Can you post a side view of your spur?

VPNavys spur is real close but the terminal ends are square where yours have a slight taper towards the arms. Here is a picture of a CW Cavalry spur.

Thanks. There are quite a few that look similar, but that one is real close.

Could I see Better Pictures of The Neck ? Side Views Mostly.
The Rounded Ends & Rounded Strap cut's has got me thinking. Thx.

Maybe I need to read the rest of the reply's but Your Rosette (if is one) have a Iron Back ?

I found some of Similar size with 'Very thin Brass Fronts on a Iron Back. ' from a late war Site . Yours has more brass left than mine does, diff, design as well on yours.

Exactly what I was thinking ..
I should have read all the reply's before posting. lol

I'm thinking Confederate BUT I would need to examine it with my own hands to say for Sure.
Nice Find's Man.

Are you finding any Lead or Bullets at that Site ?

Thanks for the reply. Area I am hunting had a small battle involving Confederate Calvary then was occupied by CSA until end of war. I have found some lead, but no 3 ringers. I mainly hunt homesites and not the area where battle took place. These finds are coming while I'm coin shooting old homesites in the area.

I've been going through photos of CSA Spurs and I think it is definitely CSA. Makes since given I found that half Wreath Tongue Buckle nearby and known CSA Calvary action in the area.

Huge Congrat's to you on the Cavalry spur and the other finds.

Dig Most Zinc Cent Targets , & Those a Few #'s below.

Larger lead , comes in at 58 -66 (est) on my XLT ,as will Zinc cents depending on their Decomposition.

That's I u don't already dig the Zincs.

Just want to add , old home sites are now the best places to hunt Civil War Relics in my area especially homes with a few acres & well...In known War Areas.
