Possible Civil War Artillery Round? Any idea on what this is and what war??

I found this at a garage sale and would like to know what it is and what war it is from. It looks old. It has a marking of 25 and what looks like a circle with an x through it. Any help would be appreciated!

Not civil war. I would say either WW1 or WW2
