Found this today at my civil war camp/skirmish site where the confederate army had many barracks built during winter months. It was about 6 inches deep and found dropped round balls all around her. It has gold gilt and on top and bottom has angels on it. Pin is still attached on back. Anyone know approximate age? Looks Victorian era

Looks more like art nouveau era to me from the lady's hair style and overall style of the brooch. Sweet little find.

Worldtalker I already gave up. Somehow a woman always wins. Or u can always let them think they did;) luvthehunt30 you have to pay attention to the tones and dig all repeatable signals;)

You're so full of it!!! I would have found it if you didn't call my name to come by you!!! A woman always wins because they tell the truth honey!!;)))

Very true. Found a very old button the other day that did not have a repeatable signal

Am I seeing things (again) or is there an Eagle Globe Anchor theme to that? Eagle with globe on belly at top, sitting on the top portion of an anchor, and the bottom with the lower portion of the anchor. And possibly a small anchor on the cameo portion? Enlarge it and tell me I'm not insane, please.
If so, it would be easy to assume it was worn by a Marine's lady friend.

Benz, I thought the same thing when I first looked at it, but after downloading, enlarging, and enhancing I see it angel wings with an open face rose at the top.

CW22, what you have is a late Victorian, circa 1890's brooch. The give-away is the Gibbon Girl relief and the open face roses.

Neat find :)
