Has anyone found one of these before? Looks to be copper. Found it about 2 hours ago in my local woods. Took me a while to figure what nation was the origin. Not sure of the date. Has "KIRK" where most coins have a date. Thought that was odd. Condition looks very good other than the dirt. Only other things found were two rather plain early buttons.

Sweet find. Seems Portuguese gold coins were “common” in colonial America. I know of one found below the front steps to a circa 1730 home
