Bust of Ulysses Musotti (Ulixes Musotus,1508-1515), made of silver tin...

I found this object back in 2002, deep in a building site where an underground garage was being dug, in the older part of the city. It is 63mm round, about 2.5 inches, and made from silver tin. It's a nice object, one of my finest, nice and large and in perfect condition. I found it about 2.5 meters below the surface, a part of it was just sticking out of the side of the cavity. There are two connecting wires soldered on the backside. I don't understand on what surface or object it would have been mounted then... Silver tin is tin to which a amount of silver was added.

I am hoping that someone out there can tell me what the text says, I have tried but failed. Maybe Cru or someone? Maybe it would give me a clue as to what date and what it is.

As you see it is the way it came out of the ground, I have not ever done more than just wash the dirt off. Amazing. But that is silver tin, every time I have found something made of it, it is always clean, just like gold.

Great ID.

I would guess the plague would post date the coin by 100 years or so. Its a guess, but I don't think its comtemporary with the coin.

I agree with you on this Cru. It is great to know what it is, that is for sure. I have been trying for some years now, and its answered in 12 minutes here! What is that great! I am pretty sure that someone could date the thing, the connections (wires) on the back are pretty unique for something like this I would imagine. They are too thin for the penning or what ever it is to be attached to leather (which moves quite a bit, the connections must be heaver). So the question is what, what was it attached to?
