I made myself a portable test garden the other day and just love it. I guess I really am getting old I never liked placing the test items on the ground and then have to pick them all up so I can cut the grass
Well any way use 2' duck tape and place a coin or junk target on the tape every 8 to 10 inches 10 is better for pinpointing then tape a nother strip of the tape over the 1st one being careful to get it on exact so not to have sticky edges. when done take magic marker and mark what it is on one side then roll it up and go out and learn your detector but checking the sounds and learn to pinpoint to see where the spot is on the coil. after a few passes flip the strip over and see if you can name the sounds by there target number and sound..
roll it up and go in and eat your supper then after your done with dishes go out and do it again.
this really make life simple try it you'll like.

Thats a good idea but you have never seen me do intricate work...ie(putting the tape edges together)...Guess thats why they made scissors... :tard:

The pictures wont show that much just a 10 foot roll of duck tape with slight bumps in it every 8" so I don't think it will show much.

I got a bunch of paint stir sticks from the local hardware store and epoxied a separate target at the end of each stick. Different coins, pop tops, screwtops, etc. I clear an area of ground, then toss different sticks into the area and start swinging the MD. I can also use this setup for air testing---although I don't use that technique very often. When not in use, I keep them stacked together on one of my book shelves.

These sticks helped me teach my son the different sounds made by my Bandido II when he picked up an interest in MDing.

I made the same thing some years back I epoxy ed coins, bottle cap, pull tab, small nail ans old go;d ring to plastic strips and hooked them all to gether with a small nut and bolts on the other end it looked just like the Whites test strip only it was $25.00 cheep er.

I taped 12" long red ribbon to coins, etc. so I could find them by sight.
Then just threw them out onto the lawn.
Maybe closing your eyes and holding detector high (shortening the handle)
would help with sound identification.

Can you post a picture??? Sounds very interesting.

I made mine today; love it! Targets 10 inches apart were easy to deal with.

Great idea!
