Not really a shipwreck topic, but sort of is. Are there any good historic books that i can read up on the Port Royal earthquake of 1692? It's my understanding that a lot of ships were destroyed in the quake - including Barth. Roberts last ship. What are the restrictions? Has the 2/3 of the city that was sunk been surveyed for historical/archaeological studies? What, if any, has been salvaged? etc., etc., etc.,

I was fortunate to spend the summer of 1982 there as a Texas A&M grad student, what a place! I think A&M has a lot of info about it at their website. The last I heard they are not going to continue their excavation, probably due to funding.

National Geographic did a few stories about it as well and I think History Channel has also. As for how much of it has been excavated I doubt 1/3 has been done, it just takes so long and the conservation of finds goes on for years afterwards of course.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
