Poor Man's 55

I am calling this one a Poor Man's 1955 Double Die. The last five in the date is doubled but if you look close so is the first five as well as a slight doubling on the 9. Does the in "IN GOD WE TRUST" also look doubled? I'd say yes but would like a few opinions.

Thanks

Mike

Re: Poor Man's 55

Did you just find this? If you did good job! I can see the doubling in the date much more so than in the IN GOD WE TRUST part. The one in the date looks thick also- just my .02 worth.

Re: Poor Man's 55

I have had the coin for sometime now. Just now finding the time to start looking at what I have.

Thanks

Mike

It is NOT worth a lot of money- you can buy these in bu condition for a couple of dollars (but that doesn't make it any less of a find, it's still very cool) the true double die is worth A LOT of money. This is machine doubling or die chatter as some call it, not actually punched twice.

Thats why its called a poor man's doubled die ;)

I've got several of these, they look just about like yours. I have noticed a couple different areas where the "doubling" stands out.
