I did 214.00 in halves through the drive up the drawer line not the tube. (I didn't figure they would make it through.) It was loose in a mint bag, but Ive banked here awhile now and they told me I could bring in any amount I wanted. I haven't had any problems with them. I may just be lucky though

Ok, all of you crazies who responded more than $1600, how much are we talking here? Anyone dumped more than $2000? $3000?

Anyone ever hauled in more than their own body weight in U.S. coin? :D

I don't dump less then $2500 There are very few banks in the area the 3 in my town are all supply banks so my dump banks are in the closest town (50 miles away) one good thing is they use a different fed. All the banks I get from use Helena fed the banks I dump at use Minneapolis fed. I have accounts at them so when I take in coins I just deposit the entire amount and get no change back. So far there has been no problem.

I did feel sorry for this one young gal. Took in $5800 in coins 2000 halves 3800 dimes. walked in told her "I was wondering if I could deposit some coins into my account" she said "sure" I said it is a lot. she said "no problem we often have people bring an entire ice cream bucket full for us." I said "I think I have a few more then that" her jaw dropped as I carried in full bag after full bag It all got put into my account. One lesson learned is never go in Monday or Friday only middle of the week , they are less busy those days.

My largest dump was $2250.00. All hand-rolled back up, and still the teller looked at me like she was passing a kidney stone. ;D

1500.00 is my record. 1000.00 in halves and 500 in dimes and quarters.

My usual weekly dump is 2k worth, but 1k goes to each of 2 branches.

One day, I was in another town with a branch of my bank in it. So I figured
Id stop in and dump a box off. The lady looked at me weird, looked at the
box, opened it, looked at me again and shook her head and said wow. I told
her I was a collector and went through lots of coin. She asked "where did
you get these"... so I answered that I ordered them from the Fed. She looked
me right in the eyes and disgustedly said "why !" I just shut up and
planned my next dump there right away haha.

Did what might have been my largest $$ coin dump this past weekend at just under $2200 in halves, filled 2 bags (I would have bought the first partial bag off the machine, but the teller said she searched it already so I didn't bother). But that is only 4400 coins, which is nowhere near the most volume of coins I have ever dumped.

The most volume was probably somewhere in the 25000 to 40000 coin range (I don't track that). And it was probably mainly pennies and nickels so it probably only totaled like $600 - $800. Basically, I have done multiple cashins in which I was required to carry 3 large bags in. These bags can fit up to around 6 boxes (15000) of pennies each. I prefer to cash them in in volume so I don't need so many trips to the car. I don't fill them as full if I am bringing them to a bank without a self-serve coin machine to be nice to the tellers though (at least at most banks ;) ).

Another note, I almost never deposit the cash unless I actually need it to pay a bill or something. So far, it hasn't been an issue.

wow! I'm amazed by some of these replies. You people sure know how to get rid of clad. Thanks for the stories. HH.

I currently dump $2500.00 a week at one bank they are very nice and the only thing they ask is that I come early in the morning to avoid large crowds, plus they have one of those nice fast counters that is always correct :)
I dumped 12 boxes on a bank a few months ago becouse they gave my wife a hard time needless to say I recieved a letter saying they could no longer accept my large deposits of coinage :):):)

Those plastic bags are $1.20 each and you have to buy 100

I get mine free at the bank. They will give me 2 or 3 at a time. I will put in $500 and take them to different branches of Wells Fargo. They like it that way and even encouraged me to do it. Except my main branch (where I signed up) has got stuck up tellers. Most do not like it when I bring in a bag. Or insist I write my account number on all rolls I bring in, which I refused to do. (because no other teller at any other WF ever even asked) The other 2-3 that I deposit at everyone is always friendly.

Cyberdan,

Do you have to put your account number on the bag? Where does WF send the bags to? Do they have their own cash vault or do they ship it directly to the FED?

12 boxes because they gave you a hard time...LOL ;D ;D ;D That is too funny! I'm guessing 12 boxes if halves?... that is over 300 pounds of coins!!! Excellent!!! Good job Ray

Since I take them to different branches they all make up their own rules.

One branch gave me the tear off stub on the top, as a receipt.
Another branch refused to give me the stub. He said that they keep it for themselves when they turn in the coins. I made him write the bag's number on my dep receipt.

Wells Fargo wants the bags so they can turn them in to the delivery truck. I guess any rolls turned in have to stay there but full ($500) bags get to go. I never got too personal about questions on what happens to the coins after I leave. I did ask my credit union that question once and she said, "Oh, I can't say for security reasons" This was right after I had seen a brinks type truck pull out of their parking lot as I came in. If there was real security issues the armored car should be disguised as a MILK TRUCK ;D

Another bank I use wants $500 in an unsealed canvas bag. They wait till I bring in $1000 and then they can ship them off. They are happy to do this and give me the bags.

I have dumped 2500.00 afew times at one bank. I go to the same teller every time. She doesnt seem to have a problem with it The last time I dumped I slipped her a 64 ken. off the side of her drawer I know she also collects and I appreciate not having to run all over with 500.00 here and there.
